Oy!
Everybody's a producer, huh! Okay, the sound effects are being taken off the church web site in the next ten minutes. Thanks for keeping me straight.
Moving Praying the Psalms
I originally said that I was going to keep my Praying the Psalms posts on this site. However, for a variety of reasons, I am changing my mind and setting up a separate space for these posts. You can find the Praying the Psalms posts at http://www.psalmprayers.blogspot.com/

Preparing for Lent
One of the things that we are doing in my congregation is using the season of Lent as a special occasion to reach out to our community in an intentional way. I've just put up a new page on our site (www.antiochumc.net) that will be a part of this effort. Let me know what you … Continue reading Preparing for Lent
:::Praying the Psalms – Psalm 42:::
How does my soul long for you O God? Do I, like the Psalmist, seek after you and thirst for your word, or do I, in fact, run from you, choosing my own way, knowing that you make demands of me that I don't want to carry out? Am I less like a hot and … Continue reading :::Praying the Psalms – Psalm 42:::

Flash Fixation
Well, learning Swishmax is dangerous. Check out the update on my church's web site (www.antiochumc.net) and click on the "about us" link. Who said a little traditional church can't get into the world of flash based sites? Now if I just had time to reprogram the rest of the site.
Celebrating Epiphany
For the past five years we have gathered every January with a group of friends for our annual "Epiphany Party." Early on, the party was actually held during Epiphany, but more recently it tends to be put off until later in January. The group is made up of persons who are either in ministry, work … Continue reading Celebrating Epiphany

Hey God, I read this Psalm and think of paranoia. "They're out to get me." "There's an evil right/left wing conspiracy attacking me." "I always have to watch my back." I would write off these fears as unhelpful except... I've seen colleagues whose ministries are characterized by those fears. They are afraid of saying the … Continue reading :::Praying the Psalms — Psalm 56:::

:::Praying the Psalms–Psalm 35:::
Dear God, I read the words of the Psalmist and wonder what it must be like to be persecuted so much. You see, while I know that there are people who don't particularly like me, there are people who think I shouldn't be a minister, there are people who would actively work to undermine my … Continue reading :::Praying the Psalms–Psalm 35:::

Creating God, Master of the Universe, we know that you made everything. You provided the foundation upon which all we have, all we experience, all we know, originates. It's all yours, every single bit, from the single celled organism to the largest of land animals. You took the waters of chaos and swirled them together … Continue reading :::Praying the Psalms — Psalm 24:::

Playing With Flash
Well I may have been far down the official nerd scale, but I've been playing with flash programming a bit, which is why suddenly my masthead continues to change every other minute. I recently purchased SwishMax, a flash development tool that is easy and lets me play a bit.

But all too often when disaster strikes - from here in Honduras to Iran, where the ancient city of Bam was shattered by an earthquake a year ago, to Mozambique, which endured floods in 2000 - that mission seems to last only as long as the media attention. After the last bodies are counted and … Continue reading New York Times Article
