Jonathan sent me the following message on my previous post:

Don’t mean to burst your bubble or take away fromyour wanting to share this. The photo is a fake and it is a photoshop that was done on
www.fark.com in a photoshop contest and images were immigrated and spliced within. The control panel is actually a mock up of a submarines
control stand and the picture was found from a naval musuem website. It is very convincing though.

Such is the nature of e-mail urban legends.
