That secret may already be out. Although only 10 percent of SBC pastors identify themselves as Calvinists, nearly 30 percent of recent seminary graduates do, a groundswell that could spark more Oklahoma-like conflicts. Some of the denomination’s leading Reformed thinkers come from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky, including its president, Al Mohler, and Tom Nettles, coauthor of Baptists and the Bible, a seminal text in the SBC’s conservative resurgence.

I have been trying to reconcile the extreme anti-calvinism of the Baptist church of my youth with folks like Al Mohler and the conserving wing of that communion. This article answers many of my questions.
Before I was baptised & joined a Methodist church, my wife and I were part of a Baptist church’s bible study small group with her best friend, led by best friend’s husband. To give some perspective, we have a running joke – my wife’s Masters degree is from Dallas Baptist University, but we’re Methodists, and his Masters degree is from Southern Methodist University, but they’re Baptists. He did a quiz/poll on the small group’s spiritual beliefs (similar to this quiz [http://quizfarm.com/test.php?q_id=43870] , but more focused on Arminian vs. Calvinistic beliefs – free will / predestination, previenent grace, etc). Every single one of the participant (except for he and his wife) scored as _very_ Arminian. We live in McKinney, a suburb of Dallas . . .
