Methodist Stuff

Many of you in the emerging world are familiar with Will Willimon. He has been a regular feature at the National Pastor’s Convention and gets around in evangelical circles a bit.

Will was just elected to be a Bishop in the Southeast Jurisdiction of the United Methodist Church. There’s no word on where he will be appointed (that happens this weekend). Frankly, although I love Will and respect his ministry, I think he’s crazy to give up the Duke gig to mess around with the petty stuff that makes up business in an Annual Conference. Hopefully he will be able to lead our denomination in some new and exciting ways, but I’m afraid that he may get chewed up.

Congratulations Will!
