About

Jay Voorhees has been the pastor of the Antioch United Methodist Church since June of 2003. During his life he has served as a restaurant manager, a television engineer, an event manager, a hospital chaplain, and as a pastor. Maybe some day he’ll figure out what he will be when he grows up!. Prior to his appointment in Antioch, Jay served as the Associate Pastor of the Bellevue United Methodist Church in Nashville. Jay has also served as the chairperson of Tennessee Annual Conference Board of Church and Society, ensuring lots of interesting email. Jay is also involved in much conversation around “the emergent church,” a group of religious professionals who are talking about the impact of postmodernism on church and faith. He writes about these issues (and many other things as well) on his weblog, “Only Wonder Understands.” Jay is married to the Rev. Kay Hereford Voorhees who is one of the pastors at the West End United Methodist Church. Kay and Jay have two daughers, Grace and Anna.

You may already know this. I just received an email from Church of the Resurrection. Adam Hamilton included links to your live blog notes of his talks. For some reason the links did not work. I thought you might want to figure that out for him and his modest congregation.

    Hi there Jay!

Once long ago my father and Bill Voorhees used to joke that a mutual descendant was a horse thief and the other half of the family changed the spelling of the name. They argued which side of the family was which.

    Regards

Hey Jay….thought I’d say howdy here, as well as the other blog.
I don’t blog, but couldn’t resist, saying hello from ATL. Hope you and the family are doing well. I’m alone now, as my Mom died in Dec. 2006 and she was definitely the best Associate Pastor I could ever have. I’m current serving at a town church in the burbs (Tucker, GA) but about to move — they’ve had to reduce their salary pkg (which should have been done before I came, but oh well). I’ll here my next assignment next week. I’m hoping to go back into a Staff Position….
Love to hear from you, preferably on email…revgailt@bellsouth or Facebook.
